FLORIDA GEOGRAPHIC DATA LIBRARY DOCUMENTATION
TITLE: SHADED RELIEF SURFACE
Geodataset Name: SHDRL Geodataset Type: Image Geodataset Feature: Surface
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is an image of a Shaded Relief Surface. The integer
values enable us to display a continuous surface of elevation, as
opposed to topography which is broken into intervals. The image
was created from a DEM at 30 meter cell size, and where this was
not available a USGS DEM at 90 meter cell size was used.
RESOLUTION: 90 Meter DATA SOURCE: UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA GEOPLAN CENTER SCALE: NA GEODATASET EXTENT: State of Florida
USER NOTES:
The cell values for this grid represent illumination value from 0 - 255.
The shaded relief image was created from the a 30 meter grid when available
and the USGS DEM (90 meter) where 30 meter data is not available (Panhandle, and
some Central Florida counties).
Shaded relief surfaces are mainly used as background in mapping and displaying data. This image CANNOT be used for analysis since it is simply an 8 bit greyscale image.
