USER NOTES:

A note concerning scale:
Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets are not
suitable for some project, analysis, or modelling purposes. Please be sure you
are using the best available data.
1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the county
level. 1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such as
property parcel boundaries.
1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
multi-county or regional level.
1:250000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or
state level or larger.
Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered suspect.
Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for projects or
analyses. Every effort has been made to supply the user with data
documentation. For additional information, see the References section and the
Data Source Contact section of this documentation. For more information
regarding scale and accuracy, see our web pages at:
http://www.geoplan.ufl.edu/education.html

FGDL QUALITY ASSURANCE STATUS:

-Upcased all character records
-Reprojected data to FGDL Albers HPGN (See "Map Projection Parameters" below)
-Changed original file name from fl_military_polygon to militr
-Added DESCRIPT item based on NAME
-Dropped the following items that did not contain values: TYPE, OWNER, and SOURCE
-Dropped old internal coverage items: MILITARY_, MILITARY_ID
-Dropped PERIMETER item because it was redundant with SHAPE_LEN item.

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:

This data was obtained in shapefile format from the FWC FMRI Marine Resources GIS
Corporate Data CD Feb 2002 by the GeoPlan Center. When received, data was in the
following projection: Albers, Datum: NAD 83 HPGN, Spheroid: GRS80, Units: Meters.
The dataset's prior history from FMRI is as follows:

Statewide federally owned military lands. Extracted from
conservation land. The conservation lands database was
initially compiled and standardized from the existing
digital GIS databases maintained by each Water
Management District. The compiled database was
subsequently enhanced at the Geoplan Center by the
addition/standardization of attribute data (such as name,
type, status, etc.). The Geoplan Center also corrected all
boundary and location inaccuracies identified by
reviewers. In addition, every effort was made to
incorporate boundary changes precipitated by acquisitions
and proposals that occurred as late as November 1994.
Digital/hardcopy boundary and hardcopy attribute data
were contributed by the St. Johns River WaterManagement
District, South Florida Water Management District,
Southwest Florida Water Management District, Suwannee
River Water Management District, Northwest Florida
Water Management District, Florida Department of
           Environmental Protection, Florida Natural Areas
Inventory, Florida Game and Freshwater Fish
           Commission, Florida Department of Transportation,
Florida Division of Forestry, U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service, U.S. Forest Service, several local government
agencies, and 1000 Friends of Florida
