ATTRIBUTE DESCRIPTION : The presence of ground water contaminants is indicated by a number 1 for each of the 42 contaminants listed in the pat. The DEP quad number is referenced by the item quad#, the delineated area is referenced by item zoneid, the water management district is referenced by the item wmd, and the quad name is listed in item quad-name. Contaminant Codes definitions are as follows: Contaminant Code Contaminant Name 1 Arsenic 2 Barium 3 Cadmium 4 Chromium 5 Flouride 6 Lead 7 Mercury 8 Nitrate(N) 9 Selenium 10 Silver 11 Sodium 12 Endrin 13 Lindane 14 Methoxychlor 15 Toxaphene 16 D-2,4 (2,4-D) 17 TP-2,4,5 (Silvex) (2,4,5-TP) 18 Trihalomethanes (Total) 19 Trichloroethylene 20 Tetrachloroethylene 21 Carbon Tetrachloride 22 Vinyl Chloride 23 Trichloroethane-1,1,1 24 Dichloroethane-1,2 25 Benzene 26 Ethylene Dibromide 27 Dichlorobenzene-para 28 Dichloroethylene-1,1 29 Toluene 30 Xylenes (Total) 31 Ethylbenzene 32 Pentachlorophenol 33 Alachlor 34 Bromocil [2] 35 Dichloropropane-1,2 36 Dibromochloropropane 37 Simazine 38 MTBE [3] 39 Benzo(a)pyrene 40 NO2 and NO3 (Total) 41 CIS-1,2-Dichloroethylene 42 Dichloromethane |

This data is provided 'as is' by GeoPlan and is complete to our knowledge. |
GeoPlan relied on the integrity of the attribute information within the original data. |
Each Delineated Area is identified by a unique Zone ID. The Zone ID is made up of the County Code number, the Contaminant Code number, Number of revisions, and a three-digit value. To interpret the Zone ID: 1) The first 2 digits are the Florida County Code number. 2) The next 2 digits are the contaminant code. If the contaminant code value is between 1 and 9 it only uses one digit. If there is more than one contaminant the code will be 99. 3) The next digit is the number of revisions on this Zone ID. 4) The last three digits are a number ensuring the ZONE ID is unique. Note: Contaminant codes are listed at the end of the Entity Attribute section, under Entity and Attribute Overview. |
This GIS layer is intended to be used by regulatory agencies issuing potable water well construction permits in areas of ground water contamination to protect public health and the ground water resource. Permitted water wells in these areas must meet specific well construction criteria and water testing prior to well use. Other users of this layer may use it as a screening tool for further investigation. This dataset only indicates the presence or absence of specific groundwater contaminants and does not represent all known sources of groundwater contamination in the state of Florida. |
This data is provided 'as is' and its horizontal positional accuracy has not been verified by GeoPlan |
This data is provided 'as is' and its vertical positional accuracy has not been verified by GeoPlan |
No constraint: Delineated areas are mapped and adopted by rule under Chapter 62 -524, G.A.C. *Note: This GIS layer does not represent all known sources of groundwater contamination for the state of Florida. FDEP: This data is intended to be used for general informational and planning purposes, and is not appropriate for legal and/or cadastral purposes. FDEP: The data set is NOT a survey document and should not be utilized as such. FDEP GIS data is provided as a public service. FDEP makes every effort to provide accurate and complete data. Metadata is provided for all datasets and no data should be used without first reading and understanding the limitations of the data. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) provides NO WARRANTY as to the accuracy of this data or any corresponding attributes or metadata. Data is provided in an as is condition, without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including any assurance that the data is fit for a particular purpose. The Florida Geographic Data Library is a collection of Geospatial Data compiled by the University of Florida GeoPlan Center with support from the Florida Department of Transportation. GIS data available in FGDL is collected from various state, federal, and other agencies (data sources) who are data stewards, producers, or publishers. The data available in FGDL may not be the most current version of the data offered by the data source. University of Florida GeoPlan Center makes no guarantees about the currentness of the data and suggests that data users check with the data source to see if more recent versions of the data exist. Furthermore, the GIS data available in the FGDL are provided 'as is'. The University of Florida GeoPlan Center makes no warranties, guaranties or representations as to the truth, accuracy or completeness of the data provided by the data sources. The University of Florida GeoPlan Center makes no representations or warranties about the quality or suitability of the materials, either expressly or implied, including but not limited to any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The University of Florida GeoPlan Center shall not be liable for any damages suffered as a result of using, modifying, contributing or distributing the materials. A note about data scale: Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modeling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best available data. 1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the county level. 1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such as property parcel boundaries. 1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the multi-county or regional level. 1:125000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or state level or larger. Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for projects or analysis. Every effort has been made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact section of this documentation. For more information regarding scale and accuracy, see our webpage at: http://geoplan.ufl.edu/education.html |

For HRS EDB wells, USGS 7.5" quadrangles were overlayed with 100 meter UTM grids. The location of each contaminated well was digitized to the nearest 100 meters in the appropriate UTM projection. These points were then buffered by 1000-2000 feet. Site maps and plume models were transferred to 7.5" quads and digitized on a Calcomp 9100 digitizer using ARC/INFO. The individual quad coverages of buffered points were projected from UTM to Lambert using ARC/INFO for VMS on a VAX. The coverages were then map joined, dissolved, projected to Albers Equal Area Conic, and exported. The exported coverages were ftp'd to a DEC/ALPHA UNIX system, imported using ARC/INFO 6.1.2 and inserted into the quad library. In Spring '97 the data was converted from NAD27 to HPGN using the projection command within ARC/INFO version 7.0.4. In Spring, 1999, the shapefile of this dataset was inserted in Spatial Database Engine (SDE 3.0.2). Process Date: 19900101 |
