USER NOTES:
This dataset contains informatin on congressional districts from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD) 2003. The 108th Congressional District Boundaries data set contains geographic information for the political entities of the 108th Congressional districts. The data provide users with information about the locations of congressional districts, primarily for national planning applications. All node-link and polygon topological relationships were created and verified using ARC/INFO a Geographic Information System. The unique identifiers were verified using ARC/INFO, (The data was then converted to a shapefile format.) The Congressional District data set was created from TIGER/Line data having a nominal scale of 1:100,000. Individual files for the Congressional Districts in the state of Florida were merged into a single data set using ARC/INFO. After completing topological and attribute verification using ARC/INFO, the data was converted into shapefile format. Download the shapefile from U.S. Bureau of the Census (BOC). Download congressional district information from (http://congress.techpolitics.org/houseofreps.htm ) and join the spatial with the attribute data. Used ArcGIS for topological and attribute verification. A note concerning data scale: Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modelling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best available data. 1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the county level. 1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such as property parcel boundaries. 1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the multicounty or regional level. 1:250000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or state level or larger. Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for projects or analyses. Every effort has been made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact section of this documentation. For more information regarding scale and accuracy, see our web pages at: http://www.geoplan.ufl.edu/education.html
