Geodataset Name: CENTAZ2010_OCT12
Geodataset Type: SHAPEFILE
Geodataset Feature: Polygon
Feature Count: 12245
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This dataset contains 2010 Traffic Analysis Zones (TAZ) as they are defined by the Bureau of the Census. The data contains selected fields from the 2010 Redistricting Summary File and Summary 1 file that includes, information on total population, race, sex, age, and household. A TAZ is a statistical entity delineated by state and/or local transportation officials for tabulating traffic-related census data. Traffic analysis zones (TAZs) are basic spatial units of analysis facilitating the ability of transportation planners to forecast changes in commuting patterns, trip volumes, and modes of travel, and to develop plans to meet the changing demands for transportation facilities and capacities. Each TAZ represents an area containing similar kinds of land use and commuter travel.

A note about data scale:

Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets
are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modeling purposes.
Please be sure you are using the best available data.

1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
county level.
1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such
as property parcel boundaries.
1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
multi-county or regional level.
1:125000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be
considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data
before using it for projects or analysis. Every effort has been
made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional
information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact
section of this documentation. For more information regarding

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:
TIGER/Line Shapefiles are extracted from the Census MAF/TIGER database
by nation, state, county, and entity. Census MAF/TIGER data for all
of the aforementioned geographic entities are then distributed among the
shapefiles each containing attributes for line, polygon, or landmark
geographic data.
Process Date: 2011

The 2010 TIGER line files were downloaded from the following site: http://www2.census.gov/geo/tiger/TIGER2010/TAZ/2010/tl_2011_12_taz10.zip When received the data was in Geographic Lat/Long projection. The data was projected to Albers HPGN. The 2010 Tiger/MAF shapefile was spatially joined to cenblk2010.shp and the following fields were dissolved and summarized: POP2010 WHITE BLACK AMERI_ES ASIAN HAWN_PI OTHER MULT_RACE HISPANIC MALE FEMALE AGE_UNDER5 AGE_5_17 AGE_18_21 AGE_22_29 AGE_30_39 AGE_40_49 AGE_50_64 AGE_65_UP MED_AGE HOUSEHOLDS HSE_UNITS The spatial join output was joined back to CENTAZ2010.shp and the above fields were added and named to be similar to TAZ2000.shp fields. For fields MED_AGE, AVE_FAM_SZ, and AVE_HH_SZ, the Summary Statistics were obtained from the spatial join of CENTAZ2010.shp and CENBLK2010_AUG11.shp. The fields are the mean value of block level data summarized to the TAZ geographic level. Zero values were not included. -- The cenblk2010 shapefile contains data from the Redistricting Summary File and Summary File 1. The Redistricting Summary File was downloaded from the Census in .pl format from http://www2.census.gov/census_2010/01-Redistricting_File--PL_94-171/Florida/ and the database was compiled using the process steps in http://www.census.gov/rdo/pdf/0HowToUseMicrosoftAccessShells.pdf Summary File 1 was downloaded from the US Census Bureau from http://www2.census.gov/census_2010/04-Summary_File_1/Florida/fl2010.sf1.zip and the database was compiled using the process steps in http://www2.census.gov/census_2010/04-Summary_File_1/0HowToUseMSAccessWithSummaryFile1.pdf The following fields were extracted from the Redistricting Summary File tables and renamed: P0010001 - TOTAL POPULATION P0010003 - WHITE ALONE P0010004 - BLACK P0010005 - AMERICAN INDIAN P0010006 - ASIAN P0010007 - NATIVE HAWAIIAN P0010008 - SOME OTHER RACE P0010009 - 2 OR MORE RACES P0020002 - HISPANIC OR LATINO P0020003 - NOT HISPANIC OR LATINO H0010001 - TOTAL HOUSING UNITS The following fields were extracted from the Summary File 1 tables and renamed: P0120002 - MALE P0120003 - UNDER 5 YEARS P0120004 - 5 TO 9 YEARS P0120005 - 10 TO 14 YEARS P0120006 - 15 TO 17 YEARS P0120007 - 18 TO 19 YEARS P0120008 - 20 YEARS P0120009 - 21 YEARS P0120010 - 22 TO 24 YEARS P0120011 - 25 TO 29 YEARS P0120012 - 30 TO 34 YEARS P0120013 - 35 TO 39 YEARS P0120014 - 40 TO 44 YEARS P0120015 - 45 TO 49 YEARS P0120016 - 50 TO 54 YEARS P0120017 - 55 TO 59 YEARS P0120018 - 60 TO 61 YEARS P0120019 - 62 TO 64 YEARS P0120020 - 65 TO 66 YEARS P0120021 - 67 TO 69 YEARS P0120022 - 70 TO 74 YEARS P0120023 - 75 TO 79 YEARS P0120024 - 80 TO 84 YEARS P0120025 - 85 YEARS AND OVER P0120026 - FEMALE P0120027 - UNDER 5 YEARS P0120028 - 5 TO 9 YEARS P0120029 - 10 TO 14 YEARS P0120030 - 15 TO 17 YEARS P0120031 - 18 TO 19 YEARS P0120032 - 20 YEARS P0120033 - 21 YEARS P0120034 - 22 TO 24 YEARS P0120035 - 25 TO 29 YEARS P0120036 - 30 TO 34 YEARS P0120037 - 35 TO 39 YEARS P0120038 - 40 TO 44 YEARS P0120039 - 45 TO 49 YEARS P0120040 - 50 TO 54 YEARS P0120041 - 55 TO 59 YEARS P0120042 - 60 TO 61 YEARS P0120043 - 62 TO 64 YEARS P0120044 - 65 TO 66 YEARS P0120045 - 67 TO 69 YEARS P0120046 - 70 TO 74 YEARS P0120047 - 75 TO 79 YEARS P0120048 - 80 TO 84 YEARS P0120049 - 85 YEARS AND OVER P0130001 - MEDIAN AGE, BOTH SEXES P0170001 - AVERAGE HOUSEHOLD SIZE P0350001 - FAMILIES P0370001 - AVERAGE FAMILY SIZE --- The following QaQc procedures were performed: -exported original shapefile to file GeoDatabase -FGDLAQDATE added based on date GeoPlan acquired data from source -Added PCT and DEN fields based on calculations defined in attribute definitions -Changed name from tl_2011_12_taz10.shp to CENTAZ_OCT12.shp Process Date: 20122010
