Prior to July 1, 2004, the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) was known as the Florida Marine Research Institute (FMRI). The institute name has not been changed in historical data sets or references to work completed by the Florida Marine Research Institute. The institute name has been changed in references to ongoing research, new research, and contact information.

These data are available for all people interested in the locations of human-black bear interactions in the state of Florida.

All positions recorded from an address location and converted to Latitude and Longitude; errors vary depending upon precision and accuracy of geocoding service.

This data is provided 'as is' and its vertical positional accuracy has not been verified by GeoPlan

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:

We imported the completed nuisance dataset into ArcGIS (version 10.x, ESRI, Redlands, California) as a shapefile. Then, we assigned North American Datum 1983 HARN as the datum with a Modified Albers projection. In part to evaluate the positional and attribute accuracy of the data, we overlaid the points onto both county and state layers. Process Date: 20140101 Dataset Preparation: Using the Query tool, we extracted nuisance records, 1980- 2013, from a Microsoft Access database maintained by FWC's Black Bear Management Program. The dataset was visually inspected for attribute errors by college interns with the Program. Process Date: 20140101 The dataset was downloaded from the FFWCC website http://geodata.myfwc.com/ As Black_Bear_Related_Calls_in_Florida in September 2016. When downloaded the data was in shapefile format and the coordinate system was GCS_WGS_1984. The data was projected to GCS_North_American_1983_HARN using the WGS_1984_(ITRF00)_To_ NAD_1983 + NAD_1983_To_HARN_Florida transformation. -Added DESCRIPT field, populated it based on CALLNATURE -Added FGDLAQDATE and populated it based on the date GeoPlan received the data -Deleted OBJECTID -Restructured table -Uppercased all fields -Renamed data from Black_Bear_Related_Calls_in_Florida to bearnuisance_2015 Please Note: Previous TRGIS data layers (prior to 2014) were misidentified in the metadata as being in Albers HARN. FFWCC-FWRI said all TRGIS data is PCS Albers (Not HARN). The data now has a HARN transformation and so all of the data is shifted (<1m) from previous FGDL versions. Fields changed between updates. Descript field was based on NATUREOFRE, descript field now based on CALLNATURE. Fields missing from latest update: ID, TYPE, ADDRESS Fields added to latest update: INCIDENTID, BMU, LAST_EDITE Fields with name changes: -ZIP to ZIPCODE -NATUREOFRE to CALLNATURE -TRACKINGNU to TRACKNUM -REPORTLATI to LATITUDE -REPORTLONG to LONGITUDE Process Date: 20161114
