SRWMD: Data portrays all interests, current and past, within SRWMD District.
SRWMD requests that all reports and maps that utilize this data layer include the following text: SRWMD shall not be held liable for any injury or damage caused by the use of the data distributed as a public records request regardless of their use or application. SRWMD does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or suitability for any use of this data, and no warranty is expressed or implied.
SWFWMD: This data set were created to show the locations of proposed District owned land. It should be used for cartographic and resource management purposes only.
Overlay of acquired maps with 1:24000 USGS quadrangle maps and comparisons of relatively well-defined features such as roads and rivers determined the accuracy to be +/- 13 meters. The above value is estimated to meet National Map Accuracy Standards for 1:24,000 maps.
SFWMD: Boundary lines are derived primarily from digital versions of county parcel maps. It should be noted that the boundaries contained in this dataset are based on the best information available at the time of entry. Although some boundaries are based on survey data, this dataset is a graphical representation and should be construed as such. In no way should this data be construed as survey accurate.
This map is a conceptual tool utilized for project development only. This map is not self-executing or binding, and does not otherwise affect the interests of any persons including any vested rights or existing uses of real property.
A note about data scale:
Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modeling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best available data.
1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the county level. 1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such as property parcel boundaries. 1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the multi-county or regional level. 1:125000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or state level or larger.
Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for projects or analysis. Every effort has been made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact section of this documentation. For more information regarding scale and accuracy, see our webpage at: <http://geoplan.ufl.edu/education.html>

There were originally 137 features. 1 sliver feature (Acreage of zero) was removed using the eliminate command in ArcMap leaving 136 features.
A new shapefile was exported with only the fields that are now available. Additional table information is available for each water management district through the shapefiles used to compile this dataset. See each individual water management districts download sites for these datasets.
- All fields in the table were upcased. - An ACRES field was added and calculated using the ESRI tool calculate geometry. - A DESCRIPT field was added based on NAME - A FGDLAQDATE field was added based on date downloaded from source
The polygons and lines are from various sources including surveys that have been submitted as a requirement for purchase. Users should check the DIG-SOURCE / COGO-SOURCE attributes within the Polygon Attribute Table to determine the integrity of property boundaries. The Lands Acquisition Maps utilize the "acq_sym" attribute; polygons with no attributes or an empty "acq_sym" field are of no consequence (either they are sliver polygons produced during editing, or they are parcels no longer in public ownership and/or not targeted for acquisition.)

GeoPlan received this dataset from the Suwannee River Water Management District via email in August 2007. The data was downloaded as a shapefile and was in the following projection: NAD_1983_HARN_StatePlane_Florida_North_FIPS_0903_Feet. The dataset was projected to FGDL Albers HPGN.
There were originally 1107 features. 1 sliver feature (Acreage of zero) was removed using the eliminate command in ArcMap leaving 1106 features.

PROPOSED Areas targeted for acquisition were delineated on USGS 7.5 quadrangles or paper copies of USGS color infrared (CIR) DOQQ's.
The method of choice now is to use heads-up digitizing on-screen with the DOQQ's as a backdrop in ArcEdit.
Some surveys were completed by individual survey firms under contract to the seller, but had to meet the Southwest Florida Water Management District Survey Section's requirements. A Professional Surveyor verified these from the Survey section of the SWFWMD.
For large multi-parcel acquisition projects, such as the Green Swamp and Annutteliga Hammock, surveys were not obtained for the small tracts (most are less than 20 acres). Sketches were made based on the legal descriptions. These projects are located in Lake, Polk and Hernando counties.
Each new parcel is combined with the existing coverage and attributed within ArcEdit. Topology is created for the coverage using CLEAN or BUILD.
Since 2003, either a shapefile that is created in AutoCAD Map or a DXF file is provided of the parcel boundary. The file's projection is defined and then projected using ArcToolBox. The parcel is then combined with the existing Parcel feature class and attributed within ArcMap. The topology is validated and any errors corrected.

Parcels included in this data base are those for which the District has obtained an interest (fee, easement, flow easement, etc) or have been proposed for acquisition. For more information about the selection process see the land acquisition web site at <http://www.sfwmd.gov/site/index.php?id=10>.
The primary source of parcel boundary lines is the digital parcel boundary data derived from county programs. These are transferred or copied from district copies of the county layers. Parcel information maintained in an Oracle data base has been joined to the GIS spatial layers, and additional fields added, to produce the coverage attribute tables.
