USER NOTES:

There are known errors in the spatial accuracy of the following county's transit routes: Alachua, Dade, Lee, Volusia, Orange, Palm Beach.

Please note that some overlapped routes have been digitzed with a slight offset so that all routes are visible. This is not an accuracy problem, but a planned spatial offset.

A companion dataset, Bus Transit Stops (TRSTP) is available from FGDL.

When viewing this dataset in combination with a roads dataset, please use USGS 1:100,000 Tiger Roads, as many county's transit routes have been digitized using Tiger Roads as a backdrop.

A note concerning data scale:

Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modelling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best available data.

1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the county level. 1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such as property parcel boundaries.

1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the multi-county or regional level.

1:250000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for projects or analyses. Every effort has been made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact section of this documentation. For more information regarding scale and accuracy, see our web pages at:

FGDL QUALITY ASSURANCE STATUS:

-Upcased all character records
-Merged 22 county shapefiles to create TRRTS
-Added COUNTY item based on county name
-Added DESCRIPT item based on COUNTY

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:

The transit routes data were compiled by the Lehman Center for Transportation Research at Florida International University. Most of the county's data were collected from transit agencies. For transit agencies that had not developed GIS maps of the routes, the Lehman Center digitzed those routes using USGS 1:100,000 Tiger Roads as a backdrop. The GeoPlan Center otained this data in shapefile format from the FDOT in 2002. Original datasets consisted of 22 county shapefiles; Alachua, Bay, Brevard, Broward, Dade, Duval, Escambia, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lee, Leon, Manatee, Monroe, Orange,Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, Seminole and Volusia. The 22 county shapefiles were merged together to create this dataset. The original shapefiles for Orange, Osceola, Volusia and Seminole contained features for areas outside of each county, hence each shapefile was clipped to the respective county boundary.
