Abstract:

Critical Restoration Projects are environmental restoration efforts considered critical in nature. Coordination of the projects is one of the main objectives, and GIS is a key technology to coordinate the work. This coverage is an official map of the boundaries of the Critical Restoration Projects, intended to be used by all researchers and collaborators in the Critical Restoration process.
Attribution on the map shows the project names, key contacts, and other critical information for these different projects.
The updated version of this coverage is maintained by the Land Resources Program on a program SDE server, in a dataset named SFWBnds and the feature class is CriticalBnd. The official layer name in the GIS library will be 'bdwmdcrr'. This is an update to the FGDL layer SFWMD_BDWMDCRR_JUN11.

Purpose:

Maintaining consistency of information sources and products is one of the main objectives of the Critical Restoration strategy. The widespread use of digital formats and modern communications makes it possible to proliferate an unmanageable number of different versions in a short period of time. Data stewardship, centralized tracking and distribution, and improved documentation are some of the preventive measures that data managers will use to insure that consistent versions of high quality data are available to all stakeholders.

GeoPlan downloaded this dataset from the South Florida Water Management District Data Catalog website on April 30th, 2014. <http://my.sfwmd.gov/gisapps/sfwmdxwebdc/dataview.asp> or <ftp://ftp.sfwmd.gov/pub/gisdata/bdwmdcrr.zip>.
The data downloaded was in shapefile format. The data was originally named: bdwmdcrr.shp The data was in the following projection: NAD_1983_HARN_StatePlane_Florida_East_FIPS_0901
- Reprojected to the FGDL Albers NAD83 HARN projection. - All records were upcased. - Deleted the SHAPE_AREA and SHAPE_LEN field. - Changed original layer name from BDWMDCRR to SFWMD_BDWMDCRR_APR14. - A DESCRIPT field was added based on PROJ_NAME - A FGDLAQDATE field was added based on date of download.
Please note that the original metadata had no date entered for the publication date and 9/30/2004 for the time period of content and GeoPlan changed both dates to 20140416. This date was chose based on the date the shapefile was last modified.
