This data layer depicts the external boundaries of lands and waters that are approved for acquisition by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) in Florida. The primary source for this information is the USFWS Realty program. This dataset is an update to the FGDL layer NWRFLA_AUG16.
The intended application of this data layer is as a cadastral framework for use with other data layers in GIS and mapping applications. It is specifically not intended to be used as a land survey or representation of land for conveyance or tax purposes.
The FWSApproved feature class is an aggregated data layer derived by appending separate regional feature data sets into a single national set. The spatial and positional accuracy of this information will vary depending on the original source data and methods utilized. Data sources are not listed in this document but are maintained for each region and can be requested. We strive to improve the accuracy of this data and incorporate more reliable information when available.

Spatial and Attribute Information
Processes vary by Region
The following steps were taken by the GeoPlan Center in processing the nwrfla_nov17. - GeoPlan downloaded the data from the following USFWS website: https://ecos.fws.gov/ServCat/Reference/Profile/91765. - The dataset was downloaded as a geodatabase "FWSCadastral.gdb" which contained the feature dataset "FWSapproved". - The FWSApproved feature class originally covered features around the entire US, so features within Florida were selected and exported to a new shapefile. - Layer was projected from NAD_1983 to FGDL Albers projection. In the process, a spatial shift of the features ranging from 0.1 to 0.5 meters was noted. - A DESCRIPT field was added based on the field ORGNAME. - A FGDLAQDATE field was added based on the date downloaded from source. - Attributes were uppercased and field lengths were altered to limit decrease file size. - File name changed from FWSApproved to nwrfla_nov17.
