USER NOTES:
This data is provided 'as is'. GeoPlan relied on the integrity
of the original data layer's topology
The data set is complete but subject to continual updates to reflect boundary
amendments, legislation, and acquisitions, and improved processing techniques.
The data is being regularly updated with verified boundaries from NPS Land
Resources Division. Please contact the data originator with corrections and
update suggestions.
GeoPlan relied on the integrity of the attribute information within
the original data.

Service wide boundary set for display and general analysis purposes.

This data is provided 'as is' and its horizontal positional accuracy
has not been verified by GeoPlan

This data is provided 'as is' and its vertical positional accuracy
has not been verified by GeoPlan

The data is intended for use as a tool for display and general GIS analysis
purposes only. It is in no way intended for engineering or legal purposes.
The data accuracy is checked against best available sources which may
be dated. NPS assumes no liability for use of this data. Boundaries from
the Land Resources Division have separate polygons for each type of unit.
For example Denali National Park and Denali National Preserve are
separate individual polygons.

The Florida Geographic Data Library is a collection of Geospatial Data
compiled by the University of Florida GeoPlan Center with support from
the Florida Department of Transportation. GIS data available in FGDL is
collected from various state, federal, and other agencies (data sources)
who are data stewards, producers, or publishers. The data available in
FGDL may not be the most current version of the data offered by the
data source. University of Florida GeoPlan Center makes no guarantees
about the currentness of the data and suggests that data users check
with the data source to see if more recent versions of the data exist.

Furthermore, the GIS data available in the FGDL are provided 'as is'.
The University of Florida GeoPlan Center makes no warranties, guaranties
or representations as to the truth, accuracy or completeness of the data
provided by the data sources. The University of Florida GeoPlan Center
makes no representations or warranties about the quality or suitability
of the materials, either expressly or implied, including but not limited
to any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular
purpose, or non-infringement. The University of Florida GeoPlan Center
shall not be liable for any damages suffered as a result of using,
modifying, contributing or distributing the materials.

A note about data scale:

Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets
are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modeling purposes.
Please be sure you are using the best available data.

1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
county level.
1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such
as property parcel boundaries.
1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
multi-county or regional level.
1:125000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be
considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data
before using it for projects or analysis. Every effort has been
made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional
information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact
section of this documentation. For more information regarding
scale and accuracy, see our webpage at:

Current Administrative Boundaries of National Park System Units (12/31/2015)
http://nrdata.nps.gov/programs/lands/nps_boundary.zip

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:
Boundary polygons for several units have been updated with data from
the Lands Resources Division (LRD) according to the procedures defined
in the Lands Acquisition Procedures Manual Chapter 5. Boundary data
from LRD has separate polygons for individual types of units like Denali
National Park and Denali National Preserve. Lands records in the dataset
that can be identified by querying for [GIS_Notes] = "Lands" in the attribute
table. LRD updated units are also identified in the place keywords of this
metadata record but by alpha code and each units full name and desigination.
Process Date: 20151231

Two sets of boundaries were collected and compared. The main set was obtained from David Duran, who collected boundaries from each region in the summer of 2001. The second set was obtained from Dean Tucker, who digitized boundaries for the Horizon Project. The main set from David Duran was determined to contain the most recent boundary information. Parks missing from David's set were added from Deans set. Those parks are..........Antietam NB Arlington House,Benjamin Franklin NMEM, Big Hole NB, Catoctin Mountain Park, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal NHP, Chimney Rock NHS, Fort Point NHS, Fredericksburg NC, George Washington Memorial Parkway, Green Springs, Harpers Ferry NHP, International Peace Garden, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Kalaupapa NHP, Manassas NBP, Monocacy NB, National Capital Parks - Central and East, Olympic NP, Prince William Forest Park, Rock Creek Park, San Francisco Maritime NHP, Thaddeus Kosciuszko NMEM, and Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts. Park/Region staff were consulted for parks with major differences between the two sets. Process Date: 2002
Boundaries were updated with data provided by National Parks or Regional Offices. Process Date:
GeoPlan downloaded the following dataset from the National Park Service's Integrated Resource Management Applications website (https://irma.nps.gov/ App/Portal/Home) on February 2, 2016. The direct download link is http://nrdata.nps.gov/programs/lands/nps_boundary.zip The original data was in shapefile format and was in the following projection: North_American_Datum_1983 Angular Unit: Degree (0.017453292519943299) Prime Meridian: Greenwich (0.000000000000000000) Datum: D_North_American_1983 Spheroid: Geodetic Reference System of 1980 Semimajor Axis: 6378137.000000000000000000 Semiminor Axis: 6356752.314140349600000000 Inverse Flattening: 298.257222100911290000 GeoPlan performed the following steps: - Reprojected the data to the FGDL Albers NAD83 HARN format. - Selected all features in the STATE field that were equal to "FL" - All records were upcased. - Changed original layer name from nps_boundary.shp to nps_dec15.shp. - Added ACRES field and calculated acres using ArcMap 10.0 - A DESCRIPT field was added based on UNIT_NAME - A FGDLAQDATE field was added based on date of download. Process Date: 20160211
