FEATURE ATTRIBUTE TABLES CODES AND VALUES:
ITEM ITEM DESCRIPTION Shape Data attribute inherent to the ESRI shapefile format, which defines the data as a point, polyline, or polygon. Version The VERSION is a 2-digit number that will be incremented for all records in the database whenever a new release is distributed. In this release the value is 03 Revision The REVISION is a 2-digit number that will be incremented individually for each record whenever a change is made to one of its fields. (Revision numbers will not be reset with each new release.) In this release the value is 00. Moddate The MODDATE (or modification date) indicates when each record in the database was last changed. As changes are made to a record, the modification date is entered in the format 'yyyymmdd'. Featurid Unique line identifier Source The Source Flag is used to identify the original source of the coordinate information. Composite field of SIGNT1, SIGNN1, and SIGNQ1 Note: The SIGNT1 field is followed by a left- adjusted sign route number (SIGNN1)for the route. The SIGNR field can contain alpha characters to allow for actual sign route numbers such as route A1A in Florida. Using HPMS standards, an optional directional indicator (N, S, E, W) can also be used as part of the SIGNN1 field. The Sign Route Number is followed by an optional Sign Route Qualifier Record (SIGNQ1) which is used to qualify the sign route description Signt1 Subfield of SIGN1 I Interstat U US Route S State Route C County Route N None of the above Signn1 Subfield of SIGN1 Signq1 No qualifier, not signed, or not applicable A Alternate Route B Business Route S Spur Sign2 Alternate Sign Route. USER NOTES:
The NHPN Version 3.0 database, or any portion thereof, can be freely distributed as long as this metadata entry is included with each Distribution. The original metadata entry cannot be modified or Deleted from any data transfer. (http://websas.bts.gov/website/ntad/metadata/nhpn.htm) The National Highway Planning Network is a comprehensive network database of the nation's major highway system. It consists of over 400,000 miles of the nation's highways comprised of Rural Arterials, Urban Principal Arterials and all National Highway System routes. The data set covers the 48 contiguous States plus the District of Columbia, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. The nominal scale of the data set is 1:100,000 with a maximal positional error of ˜80 meters. The accuracy of the fields FCLASS and STRAHNET from the description section of the line shapefile is consistent with State supplied information for the years 1992 and 1993. The accuracy of the fields MILES, KM, SIGN1, and NHS from the description section of the line shapefile is consistent with State supplied information for the years 1992 through 2001. All other attributes in the description of the link table are unverified. The dataset provides location and attribute information for use in national and regional cartographic and network analysis applications. A note concerning data scale: Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modelling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best available data. 1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the county level. 1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such as property parcel boundaries. 1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the multi-county or regional level. 1:250000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or state level or larger. Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for projects or analyses. Every effort has been made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact section of this documentation. For more information regarding scale and accuracy, see our web pages at: http://www.geoplan.ufl.edu/education.html
FGDL QUALITY ASSURANCE STATUS:
-Projected data to FGDL Albers HPGN (See "Map Projection Parameters" below). -Clipped to the State of Florida -DESCRIPT item added based on Sign1 -Upcased all character records.
DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:
This data was originally released by U.S. Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Statistics in 2001. The GeoPlan Center Data downloaded this data in shapefile format from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics website: http://www.bts.gov/gis/ntatlas/networks.html in 2002. When received, the data was in the following projection: Geographic, Datum: NAD 83, Spheroid: GRS80, Units: Decimal Degrees. The shapefile was then clipped to the State of Florida and projected to FGDL Albers HPGN (See "Map Projection Parameters" below). All character items within the attribute table were upcased and the DESCRIPT item was added based on Sign1.
