Abstract:
This shapefile contains mobile home and RV facilities inspected by the Department of Health. Mobile home parks, lodging and recreational vehicle parks, and recreational camps are licensed annually by the Department of Health in accordance with Chapter 64E-15, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), rules. The county health departments provide direct services in the operational aspect of the program through routine inspections, plan reviews, educational programs, and enforcement actions. This is an update to the mhrv_feb08 layer.
Purpose:
The data was created to serve as base information in a GIS system.
Supplemental_Information:
This program includes approximately 5,600 mobile home parks, lodging and recreational vehicle parks, and recreational camps in Florida. The objective of this program is to minimize the risk of injury and illness in this residential environment. The objective is accomplished through routine inspections of these parks and camps ensuring the residents' risks for disease from an environmental origin are minimized. The inspections focus on the following: 1) proper sewage disposal to minimize the risk of diseases such as hepatitis, salmonella, and shigella; 2), safe drinking water to minimize the risks of diseases such as giardia and cryptosporidium; 3) safe solid waste collection and disposal to minimize rat and roach infestations, as well as reservoirs for mosquitoes and associated diseases such as West Nile Virus, Dengue, St. Louis and Eastern Equine Encephalitis. Also of concern is a safe and disease free swimming pool, where applicable.

The data downloaded was in shapefile format from the following webpage: <http://www.doh.state.fl.us/environment/programs/ehgis/EhGisDownload.htm> The data was in the following geographical coordinate system: WGS 1984 Datum, Units: Degrees. The following QA/QC process steps were undertaken:
- Reprojected the data to FGDL Albers HPGN - Removed 262 records due to erroneous/missing spatial information. - All records were uppercased. - Added a DESCRIPT based on Company_Nam. - Added a FGDLAQDATE field based on date GeoPlan acquired the data from the source. - Renamed the dataset from MobileHome to mhrv_oct10

A note about data scale:
Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modeling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best available data.
1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the county level. 1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such as property parcel boundaries. 1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the multi-county or regional level. 1:125000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or state level or larger.
Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for projects or analysis.
