May stand for National Priority List Status Indicator. COORD_SRC Source for latitude and longitude coordinates BVFLAG Indicator of most accurate location for an EPA facility as defined by FINDS EDITED Item added by FGDL. A value of 'Y' indicates that points were were edited. (See 'FGDL QUALITY ASSURANCE STATUS' below.) DESCRIPT Item added by FGDL based on NAME item
USER NOTES:
The Envirofacts point coverage provides Geographic Information System (GIS) applications with a valuable data layer for base mapping offacilities regulated by EPA. Facility locations areused in numerous types of analysis, e.g., proximity ofpopulations to one or more facilities. Currently, EPA's Gateway/GIS subsystem, Ecological Sensitivity Targetingand Assessment Tool (ESTAT), and various EPA publicuse webbasedGIS applications utilize this data set.
FGDL QUALITY ASSURANCE STATUS:
-Set tolerances to FGDL standards.
-Reprojected from Dat83, Spheroid GRS1980, to FGDL standard projection.
-Relocated 49 points from the ocean to 1) the original lat/long coordinates
(as defined in LONG_DMS and LAT_DMS), or 2) to the nearest land feature,
or 3) to the point location of the facility as defined in other FGDL
datasets (sewtrt, pwrplts). Each relocated point has an EDITED value of 'Y'.
Original lat/long coordinates were in decimal degrees, Datum83, GRS1980. They
were reprojected to Datum27, degrees/minutes/seconds.
-Dropped the following "REDEFINED" items:
SYSTEM_ID Unique ID from respective program system; equal to the first 15 characters of ID item. CER_FAC_ID CERCLIS unique ID name; equal to the first 12 characeters of the ID item. HANDLER_ID RCRIS unique ID name; equal to the first 12 characeters of the ID item. TRI_FACILITY_ID TRIS unique ID name; equal to 1st 15 characters of ID item. EF_AFS_ID AFS unique ID name; equal to the 1st 9 characters of ID item. NPDES PCS unique ID name; equal to the 1st 9 characters of ID item. ERN_ID Not defined; equal to the first 9 characters of ID item. NCDB_ID Not defined; equal to the first 11 characters of ID item. FFIS_ID Not defined; equal to the first 12 characters of ID item. PADS_ID Not defined; equal to the first 12 characters of ID item. SITE_ID Unique ID for Envirofacts point coverage; equal to the SYSTEMCODE plus the first 15 characters of the ID item.

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:
Facility data from various EPA program system tables were converted into a point coverage. Only coordinate pairswith the highest accuracy values represent each facility. The Envirofacts point coverage contains data from the following EPAprogram systems:
AFS Aerometric Information Retrieval System (AIRS) Facility Subsystem PCS Permit Compliance System TRIS Toxic Release Inventory System CERCLIS Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Information System RCRIS Resource Conservation and Recovery Information System
The latitude/longitude attribute values come from the program systemdatabases and may or may not be populated. For facilities with Latitude/longitude values ofzeros, coordinates were obtained from the EPA program systems named in COORD_SRC.
