FLORIDA GEOGRAPHIC DATA LIBRARY DOCUMENTATION
VERSION 2005
TITLE: FDEP ECOLOGICAL REGIONS
Geodataset Name: ECOREG Geodataset Type: Shape Geodataset Feature: Polygon
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Ecoregions denote areas of general similarity in ecosystems and in the type, quality, and quantity of environmental resources. The Florida ecoregion map depicts revisions of ecoregions, compiled originally at a relatively small scale (US EPA 1995, Omernik 1987), as well as subregions of those ecoregions.

USER NOTES:
Compilation of the Florida ecoregion map was part of a collaborative project between the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory (NHEERL) - Corvallis, OR., and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The ecoregions and subregions are designed to serve as a spatial framework for environmental resource management. The most immediate uses by the State of Florida are for developing regional biological criteria and water quality standards, and for setting management goals for non point-source pollution.
FGDL QUALITY ASSURANCE STATUS:
-Reprojected data to FGDL Albers
-Set Precision to DOUBLE
-Set Tolerances to FGDL Standards
