Item Description
OBJECTID Internal feature number.

NAME General name of Area of Critical Concern

SITECODE BCD site code. Unique alphanumeric identifier for each site, designed by The Nature Conservancy for use with the Biological Conservation Data system. Begins with "S.USFLHP*".

SITENAME The name of the Florida Forever BOT project, or portion of the project, represented by the site. For Florida Forever BOT projects that are composed of multiple sites (e.g., Dade County Archipelago Florida Forever BOT Project), the SITENAME for each site begins with the name of the project, and this is followed by the name of the particular site within the project (e.g., Dade County Archipelago Florida Forever BOT Project - Whispering Pines).

CNTYS County or Counties where area is located

MAPDATE Undefined by Source

BND_JUST Boundary justification. The name and date of the Florida Forever BOT project or portion of the project (i.e., site within the project) represented by the GIS boundaries.

PROT_COM Protection comments. Number of acres within the Florida Forever BOT project that have been protected (i.e., purchased by the State of Florida or one of its acquisition partners), and the State's acquisition partners, if any.

MA_COM Managed Area comments, part 1. Relationship of Florida Forever BOT project to managed area(s), also called conservation land(s). If a portion of the project site has been purchased and is currently being managed, MACOM gives the name of the Managed Area and the name of the managing agency.

SITE_REL Site relations. Gives relationship of this Florida Forever BOT project site to other sites, including current Florida Forever BOT projects and former CARL projects. Indicates whether the project site represented by the GIS boundaries is greater than (>), less than (<), or equal to (=) the other site(s). For example, Whispering Pines is a site within the Dade County Archipelago Florida Forever BOT Project, and it was added to the project in 1996. This relationship is described in SITE_RELAT as "CARL Project: Dade County Archipelago [1996] - <".

SITE_DES Site description. Ecological description of the site.

SITE_COM Site comments. Miscellaneous information about Florida Forever BOT project, including dates of additions/deletions to project boundary, and relationship of project to its component sites or to certain rare species occurrences.

The Florida Geographic Data Library is a collection of Geospatial Data
compiled by the University of Florida GeoPlan Center with support from
the Florida Department of Transportation. GIS data available in FGDL is
collected from various state, federal, and other agencies (data sources)
who are data stewards, producers, or publishers. The data available in
FGDL may not be the most current version of the data offered by the
data source. University of Florida GeoPlan Center makes no guarantees
about the currentness of the data and suggests that data users check
with the data source to see if more recent versions of the data exist.

Furthermore, the GIS data available in the FGDL are provided 'as is'.

A note about data scale:

Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets
are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modeling purposes.
Please be sure you are using the best available data.

1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
county level.
1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such
as property parcel boundaries.
1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
multi-county or regional level.
1:125000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be
considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data
before using it for projects or analysis. Every effort has been
made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional
information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact
section of this documentation. For more information regarding
scale and accuracy, see our webpage at:

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:
The data was prepared by the Florida Department of Community Affairs
based on the legal description of the Area of Critical State Concern boundaries
contained in Section 380.00552(3), Florida Statutes, and Rule 28-29.002,
Florida Administrative Code. These legal sources should be consulted if
a precise boundary is needed.
Process Date: Unknown

GeoPlan received this data via the Florida Department of Community Affairs FTP site (ftp://ftp.dca.state.fl.us/public) on April 19, 2010. The original data was broken out into five shapefiles, one for each area of critical concern. The data was in the following projection: GCS_North_American_1927. Features associated with Key West were originally single part. They were dissolved to multipart to match the other features. The shapes were projected to the FGDL albers projection and merged to a single shapefile using the Merge tool in ArcCatalog. - Upcased all records in the table - Added DESCRIPT field based on NAME - Added FGDLAQDATE based on date received from source - Deleted fields AREA, PERIMTER, CARL01_, CARL01_ID, CARLID SHORT_NAME, PRISEC_A, PRIMA_A, IN_ACSC, ACSC, ID, MUNIC_CHK_CHK, BUFFERDIS - Original file names: city_of_apalachicola_acsc_bndy big_cypress_acsc green_swamp_acsc key_west_acsc_bndy fla_keys_acsc_bndy - File renamed to dca_acsc Process Date: 20100419
