Abstract:

This dataset contains FCC registered cellular antenna structure locations.

Purpose:

This dataset represents FCC registered cellular antenna structures. This mobile cellular service list mobile radiotelephone service in which common carriers are authorized to offer and provide a mobile telecommunications service for hire to the general public using cellular systems.

Supplemental_Information:

As you use the cellular structure location data, be aware that the database may reflect uncorrected facility reporting errors. The following points have structure locations that are within the State of Florida but when initially plotted by the GIS their points fell outside of the state. These points have call signs KNKQ417 (location 10) and KNKN918 (location 11). The points for both Call Signs were deleted. These errors have been reported to the FCC.

Data originally released by the Federal Communications Commission in November 2007.The original data was limited to the entire United States.

Data was downloaded from the Federal Communications Commission website (<http://wireless.fcc.gov/geographic/fcc_db.html>) in shapefile format in February 2008. When received the shapefile was in the projection NAD 83. GeoPlan, during the QA/QC process included the following aspects:

The features with call sign KNKQ417 and KNKN918 were deleted as they were known incorrect points. (See User Notes).

- The original dataset name was cellular - The dataset was projected data to FGDL Albers. - Deleted points which plotted outside of the physical State of Florida. - Deleted the QZONE and LOCNAME fields. - Added the FGDLAQDATE field. - Added DESCRIPT item based on CALLSIGN. - All fields were upcased.
