This dataset contains the Bureau of Transportation Statistics commercial air segment network. The data provide users with service information about commercial air segments between commercial airports primarily for national planning applications. Acknowledgment of the Bureau of Transportation Statistics National Transportation Atlas Database would be appreciated in products derived from these data.

Logical_Consistency_Report:
Each air segment record is a straight line connecting pairs of points representing the locations of commercial U.S. airports. Each segment represents a direct, non-stop commercial air route between the two end points.
Completeness_Report:
The air segments are complete for large U.S. certified air carriers. Data on foreign flag air carriers is protected from public disclosure by international agreement and has been excluded from this database. Data on commuter airlines is not reported in the T-100 reports, and has also been excluded from this database. Although some records were modified, the data provider supplied no modification date(s), nor any change code in the REVISION field. The REVISION field was dropped from the coverage for since it has no records.

The process step describes, in general, the process used in the production of data sets. The originating agencies created the original spatial coverage. Monthly reports were totaled to produce an annual summary of flights, seats, and enplaned passengers, by direction. Segment endpoints were matched against public use airports using landing facility's location identifier (LOCID) to obtain the end point locations. This process date was 19940000. GeoPlan, during the QA/QC process included the following aspects: (1) Reprojected data to FGDL Albers (2) Set Precision to DOUBLE (3) Set Tolerances to FGDL Standards. (4) DESCRIPT item based on FEATURID (5) Dropped items LREVISION, LMODDATE, STFIPS1 and STFIPS2 from BTSAW.AAT
