This dataset is a subset of the National Bridge Inventory for the state of Florida. The NBI is a collection of information (database) describing the more than 600,000 of the Nation's bridges located on public roads, including Interstate Highways, U.S. highways, State and county roads, as well as publicly- accessible bridges on Federal lands. It presents a summary analysis of the number, location, and general condition of highway bridges within the State. This is an update to the BTS_BRIDGE_2015 layer.

GeoPlan relied on the integrity of the attribute information within the original data.
RITA/BTS quality checks were to cross reference the NBI dataset with an up-to-date TeleAtlas dataset, to determine that the spatial data and attribute data were accurate. For those bridges that were not matched to the TeleAtlas data, an attempt was made to use the State supplied longitude-latitude data contained in the NBI. If the resulting point fell within the State, then that location was used. If the point fell outside of the State, it is coded to longitude-latitude 0-0. See the STATUS attribute for more information. This data is provided 'as is'. GeoPlan relied on the integrity of the original data layer's topology
This data is provided 'as is' by GeoPlan and is complete to our knowledge.
This data is provided 'as is' and its horizontal positional accuracy has not been verified by GeoPlan
This data is provided 'as is' and its vertical positional accuracy has not been verified by GeoPlan
Spatial and Attribute Information
Downloaded shapefile from BTS (http://osav-usdot.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/fe 70a8d685234d6bb1d82e9287dc75c6_0? geometry=-99.064%2C24.96%2C-57.25%2C30.783). Extracted features where "STATEFIPS" = '12' to select features in Florida. Reprojected file into Albers from GCS_WGS_1984 using the WGS_1984_ (ITRF00)_To_NAD_1983 + NAD_1983_To_HARN_Florida transformation. Tick marks at the start and end of fields ITEM6A, ITEM7, and ITEM9 Used the following field strings to remove the ticks and extra space: ITEM6A - Mid( [ITEM6A], 2, 80 ) - RTrim( [ITEM6A] ) - Replace( [ITEM6A], " '", "" ) - LTrim( [ITEM6A] ) ITEM7 - Mid( [ITEM7], 2, 80 ) - RTrim( [ITEM7] ) - Replace( [ITEM7], " '", "" ) - LTrim( [ITEM7] ) ITEM9 - Mid( [ITEM9], 2, 80 ) - RTrim( [ITEM9] ) - Replace( [ITEM9], " '", "" ) - LTrim( [ITEM9] ) Upon comparing the 2015 bridge layer with the latest update, it was discovered that all number fields were converted to text fields. The 2015 update was created using an excel spreadsheet. It is possible that when converting the spreadsheet to a shapefile the fields converted Removed 47 features as they did not have spatial reference. The Bridge_IDs for the points are: 080501000001031, 080501000003105, 080501000003106, 080501000003108, 080501000003109, 080501000003110, 080501000003111, 080501000003112, 080501000003115, 080501000003116, 080501000003117, 080501000003118, 080501000003119, 080501000003121, 080501000003122, 080501000003124, 080501000003125, 080501000003126, 080501000003127, 080501000003128, 080501000003129, 080501000003130, 080501000003131, 080501000011367, 080501000015394, 080504000001063, 080504000003108, 080504000003109, 080504000003131, 080504000003132, 080504000012190, 080504000015386, 080506000003133, 080506000003135, 080506000003136, 080506000003137, 080506000003138, 080506000003139, 080506000003140, 080506000003144, 080506000003145, 080506000003146, 080506000010490, 080506000010673, 080506000011366, 27826.005762, 27827.005762 Added BRIDGE_ID field based on ITEM8 Added DESCRIPT field, populated it based on concatenation of ITEM6A, ITEM7, and ITEM9. The Florida Geographic Data Library is a collection of Geospatial Data compiled by the University of Florida GeoPlan Center with support from the Florida Department of Transportation. GIS data available in FGDL is collected from various state, federal, and other agencies (data sources) who are data stewards, producers, or publishers. The data available in FGDL may not be the most current version of the data offered by the data source. University of Florida GeoPlan Center makes no guarantees about the currentness of the data and suggests that data users check with the data source to see if more recent versions of the data exist. Furthermore, the GIS data available in the FGDL are provided 'as is'. The University of Florida GeoPlan Center makes no warranties, guaranties or representations as to the truth, accuracy or completeness of the data provided by the data sources. The University of Florida GeoPlan Center makes no representations or warranties about the quality or suitability of the materials, either expressly or implied, including but not limited to any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The University of Florida GeoPlan Center shall not be liable for any damages suffered as a result of using, modifying, contributing or distributing the materials. A note about data scale: Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modeling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best available data. 1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the county level. 1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such as property parcel boundaries. 1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the multi-county or regional level. 1:125000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or state level or larger. Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for projects or analysis. Every effort has been made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact section of this documentation. For more information regarding scale and accuracy, see our webpage at: http://geoplan.ufl.edu/education.html
